Cripps Barn Wedding – Dom & Becky

It has just gone midnight so Dom & Becky should just be leaving their fantastic wedding & heading back into Cirencester, I meanwhile have raced home to get a few images of their amazing day up on the blog.  As you may have seen me mention on my blog post of their engagement shoot, I adore these two.  I plan to adopt them.  Their wedding day was as gorgeous, unpretentious, joyful and chilled as they are.

The wedding was held at the beautiful Cripps Barn in the Cotswolds – thank you so much to Lisa & the marvelous team there for making us feel so welcome.

Have a fantastic honeymoon, and I hope you like the pictures so far! xxxx

A not at all cheesy maternity shoot :)

Jen contacted me because she is soon to be a mama (“No Way?!”  “Yes!”) and wanted to get some pictures of her pregnancy for the sake of posterity.  Now I never know quite what to do with maternity shoots – you see some really cute, creative ideas out there involving a mind-boggling array of props, but these don’t really suit the way I roll.  So when Jen suggested a portrait shoot that just happens to include a big ole bump, I jumped at the chance.  I hope you like the pictures Jen (& Joel!), and I hope that in a few years you can show that wee person inside of you what they looked like in utero :)

Nici & Matt’s snowy engagement shoot in Winchester

Last night saw our first snowfall of 2012 in Winchester.  As we came back from the pub at 11.30 last night the city was quiet; muffled by a light blanket of powdery snow.  Matt & Nici had contacted me a couple of months before saying how they would love to have their engagement shoot in the snow (“hmm…let me see…um…hells yes!), so we had been waiting for just this opportunity.  So this morning at short notice I bundled the kids, dog, and brand new sledge into the car to meet them up at Farley Mount just outside Winchester.  The early morning rainfall had dissipated the blanket of snow (now more like one of those cheap fleece blankets you get from garages…), but we tromped through the ice/snow/slush to make some pictures of them.  Matt & Nici – thanks for being such great sports, for coming across to Winchester, and for tolerating my interlopers with such good humour -  I hope you like your pictures xxx

Rainy day baby photoshoot

While the wind howled & the rain fell from the sky today, I was snuggled up in the warm taking pictures of newborn Joha, and his lovely sister & parents. Newborn snuggles are the best snuggles…FACT.

Fashion Shoot at Hill Place

I have just got home from an amazing day at the beautiful Hill Place in Hampshire, where I (and a ton of talented people whom I will list when I do a proper blog post) got together to create a 1930′s bridal fashion shoot.  I will write more when I have sorted the photos, and liaised with my laydeez  – in the meantime here is a peek….

My New Website!

As you can see I have a new website which I am absolutely thrilled with.  My old site was, well, functional (mostly – I built it myself; let’s leave it there), but this site is so much more me – it represents more about what I do and the job I love.  Please have a look around and let me know what you think!

So thank you to all the brides, grooms, kids and generally fab people who allowed me to take their photographs so I could could showcase them here.  Massive props to Joe & Steve from Rareloop.com who put the site together; taking my designs, requirements, and vague instructions (“I want a thing, you know, that makes my pictures go whoosh, and look all pretty”), and making them into something that is stable, beautiful and absolutely what I need.  The whole process was fast, responsive and totally headache-free – check them out if you are thinking of up-webbing (is that a word?  No?  It is now).

Two Thousand and Eleven

This year seems simultaneously to have lasted 4.2 years and also about 25 minutes.  It has been packed with the most amazing experiences for me – both personally & professionally.  So, just home after my last job of the year,  trying to write a blog post which captures all these disparate & fascinating commissions, along with the lovely people I met whilst doing them is impossible.  So, here is a partial photographic digest  to try & do it for me – just a scattering of weddings & commercial work, exciting challenges and gorgeous brides, friends & family.  Thank you thank you thank you to everyone whom I have worked with this year – I happen to think you are rather marvelous.

Honourable Mentions:  Anna my favourite second shooter – Thank you – can’t wait to do it all again in 2012!, Thanks to my Ladies Wot Drink & the BFG’s for keeping me sane, Paul & the AUCB massive for getting me though my degree and giving good crit,  all (well, some ;) ) at Schint’s for helping with those endless wediting days with distracting gibberish, cheerleading friends too numerous to mention (but no less appreciated), industry cleverclogs like Mel at Bellissimo & all the lovely venues who spotted a flagging photographer & handed over an iced drink, The Hub-sand for his unending and unwavering support, and to my beautiful, funny, creative girls for their hugs & compliments (“Black & White looks rubbish, Mummy”  “Why would you take a picture like that” etc.), and for all the time they spend waiting for me whilst I ‘just do one more thing…’.  Oh wait, I got confused there, thought I had won an Oscar…

Becky & Dom’s wet & wintery South Bank engagement shoot

This is Becky & Dom.  They grin.  All the time.  Mr & Mrs Grinny McGrin from Grinshire.  It is absolutely infectious and I spent a good part of their engagement session yesterday grinning along with them.  They are just so much fun to be with, and I can’t wait for their wedding in February.  We spent yesterday morning wandering around London’s South Bank, past the Christmas market (a heady mix of gift stalls which fell into the categories of Germanic or cheesy), across the Millennium Bridge and into a almost deserted City (where both Dom & Becky work).  I had such a good time, and was sad to leave them to join my hubby & kids at the Natural History Museum (before heading to the Dr Who Experience -  that’s a whole other post.  One for nerds like me).  Dom, I haven’t included any of your ‘pointing at the foliage in a ‘Man from BHS’ manner’ images; but I think there are at least sixteen – we can put them in a special montage :) .  Thanks for yesterday, folks – I will be in touch with the rest of the images really soon xx

Catch Up: Andy & Jo at Rownhams House

I am deep in album land at present, trying to get everything wrapped up before Christmas, so I thought I would blog a recent wedding before I crack on this morning – I’m obviously feeling in a very black & white mood today!  Jo & Andy were married at Highfield Church in Southampton before heading to Rownhams House for their reception.  It was gorgeous day; the sun was beating down and Rownhams looked marvellous.  Jo & Andy are twelve kinds of lovely – just the sweetest couple – and I was so glad to be able to join them on this day of days.  Your album is with the printers as we speak!

Venue:  Rownhams House

Church:  Highfield, Southampton

Second Shooter:  Anna Morgan

The fog at Crab Wood

Wedding season is officially over for the year for me and whilst I am still knee-deep in album design I took the opportunity to take the girls to our magical local woods  – Crab Wood near Winchester – for a tromp in the leaves and a quick photoshoot.  I shot a roll of Velvia on the FM2 which I will update with later, but here are the digital shots.  God, I love Autumn.

N.B I should note that the image of the dog & the spiderweb was taken by my increasingly talented 7-year old :)
