Sometimes you get a bit attached to the couples & families you shoot, and yesterday was no different. I fully wanted to take the entire family home in my pocket – beautiful sisters & bridesmaids (Erin, Jenny & Galynn), warm & funny parents, aunts & uncles, and the gorgeous couple themselves.
Martin & Logan decided to celebrate in Winchester because they met here whilst studying, and after a long distance relationship he moved from his home on the Isle of Man, and she from her home in South Carolina, and landed in Washington DC, where they now live. Their blessing & hand fasting was presided over by Janet from the Humanist association, and she had help Logan & Martin create a very moving & personal ceremony. They celebrated at the lovely Hotel Du Vin in the centre of Winchester, which was a perfect setting for the day – thanks to Barry & his team for all their help. Logan created the beautiful centerpieces herself from vintage teapots & jugs, and books from the cathedral bookshop, and she had her sweet paper flowers & posies sent from the US.
We wondered around the deserted city (bar a few hardcore Olympic fans watching the big screens outside the cathedral), before returning to the hotel to watch their guests throw some serious moves on the dance floor, and watch Logan & her father do a first dance which had me blubbing like a small child, along with many others in the room.
Thank you thank you thank you, Logan & Martin, for having me along to record your day. It was an honour.
